Say Goodbye to Glasses & Contact Lenses

If you find that neither glasses or contact lenses work well for your lifestyle, you may want to consider laser eye surgery. Refractive surgery, such as LASIK or refractive lens exchanges, can give you clear, crisp vision and let you say goodbye to glasses and contact lenses for good.

Like any elective procedure, choosing to undergo laser vision correction is a big decision. To help you get all the information you need to make an informed choice, Arc Eye Care offers laser eye surgery consultations.

Types of Laser Eye Surgery

LASIK is the most popular form of laser eye surgery and involves using a laser to reshape your cornea. First, your surgeon will create a small flap in the outer layers of your cornea (the epithelium), then gently fold the flap out of the way to reveal the cornea’s inner layers. These inner layers are then reshaped using a laser before the flap is replaced.

Refractive lens exchange, which is the same procedure used to correct cataracts, involves replacing your natural lens with an artificial one, reducing or even eliminating the need for glasses or contact lenses.

Refractive lens exchange can be a great option for patients whose eyes aren’t suitable for LASIK or other forms of laser eye surgery. This procedure can be used to correct presbyopia or extreme farsightedness (hyperopia), as well as high myopia.

During Your Consultation

During your laser eye surgery consultation, your optometrist will perform a series of tests to assess your candidacy for LASIK or refractive lens exchange. Factors that are considered include your corneal thickness, your pupil size, and your current prescription.

If we determine that refractive surgery is a good choice for your eyes, we’ll go over the benefits and risks with you, answer any questions you may have, and explain the sort of results you can reasonably expect.

If you decide to undergo laser eye surgery, we’ll then schedule a series of follow-up appointments with you and handle your pre and post-operative care. We’ll also work with your refractive surgeon of choice to help ensure the entire process goes smoothly.

After Your Surgery

After the procedure is finished, you’ll require several follow-up appointments. These appointments are vital because they allow us to monitor your recovery closely and address any questions or concerns that may arise during the healing process.

Do you crave freedom from glasses and contacts? Ask your optometrist about laser eye surgery during your next appointment.
